BSL-Led 1-2-1 Social Media Consultancy Programme To Turbo-Charge Your Business

The programme – which could be paid for through your Access to Work grant – should not only help you drive more sales/leads but could end up saving both time and money.

All our sessions are informative, fun and interactive. The lead consultant is a native BSL user and there will also be an interpreter at every session. 

Our leaders have worked with well-known global household names. They have years of experience working with Deaf business owners. For example, through their marketing, one client now regularly delivers Deaf Awareness training to organisations such as the NHS, Renault, SpecSavers to name just a few.

At the end of the programme, you’ll come away with a clear plan to help grow your business.

You will automatically be invited to join our private Facebook group just for Deaf business owners. You’ll also be able to network and get access to discounted future workshops/events. If you’re not sure about a business, you’ll also have the opportunity to potentially join a business we’ve set up.

And you could have us! We offer ongoing specific consultancy and social media communication support (funding may be available through Access To Work). There are also discounts if you are interested in having a website with a Deaf (BSL-user) website designer.

Initially 6 x 40 mins weekly 1-2-1 sessions live online on Fridays.

Special Price £47 per session – funding could be available through your Access To Work budget. We will pay for the interpreter.

Do you have what it takes to run a business?

Not everyone has the natural ability to be a business owner and that’s absolutely fine. In this first session, we’ll cover the mental-health side of things. We’ll focus on how to have a positive mindset and share lots of tips to help you on your business journey. 

Getting Noticed

This module is about developing your business idea and how to position it in the marketplace. Who’s going to buy your product or service? How are you different from your competitors? We’ll also cover branding.

Developing A Strategy

This is where you can start to develop a marketing strategy for your business. We’ll take a deeper dive into understanding your customers and how to start interrupting their days with appropriate marketing messages.

Goal Setting

This week is about Goal setting using SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound) objectives.We’ll look at budgets and how to track, measure and improve your marketing performance. Many marketing campaigns fail because they do not set appropriate goals or do not measure, monitor and tweak their campaigns.

Week 5

Content & Connections

In this module, we’ll guide you so that you can start coming up with winning content-ideas. You’ll understand the types of content which your customers will want to see. We’ll also show you how to actually reach out to people (and how this works with an interpreter/CSW).

Week 6

Let’s Go Live!

In this final week, you’ll learn how to get communication support through Access To Work and how to go about setting up the legal parts of a business including registering on Companies House.


Barbara Burke

Barbara Burke has been Deaf since the age of three. Her main language is BSL.

Barbara is an entrepreneur and business owner. Barbara’s background includes:

  • Establishing and managing the Deaf Ethnic Organisation, consulting with companies in the voluntary, private and public sectors
  • Successfully organised, developed and delivered taster courses in British Sign Language (Level 1 & 2)
  • Designing and making costume clothing for various films and children’s television programmes 
  • Supporting Fashion Shows for a number of top fashion designers incl. Bella Freud, Joe Casley-Hayford, Nicole Farhi and Hardy Amies
  • Presenting on BBC ‘Hands Up!’ as a Television telling children stories in sign language
  • Completing the ASDAN course to become a certified verifier capable of executing projects and assessing students

Tim Mitchell

Tim draws on over 30 years’ marketing experience. As Managing Director of his own marketing agency, he has personally secured work for Deaf clients through LinkedIn with Heathrow, Lloyds of London, SCOR, vmWare, SpecSavers, Dept of International Development, Rt Hon Penny Mordaunt MP, NHS Recovery College and Willmott Dixon to name just a few.

Tim is a highly respected and sought after trainer. He has developed and led training courses (face-to-face and online)  in the UK and abroad for individuals right through to very well known global corporations on digital marketing including LinkedIn.

He recently ran four courses in Dubai for Informa (a global leader in training), and in Oman for one of the world’s largest mining companies on digital marketing/social media.

Tim is learning BSL and has made it his mission to help more Deaf business owners. He believes communication should not be a barrier.
